Tony Low & self went to Exmouth.
Sand bar was almost fully covered when we arrived, but I don't think it had
been "fully" uncovered on such a smallish tide.
Following the usual indecision, I rigged 5.5m on 86l wave board.
In slight fear of currents (I've been caught out here a couple of times in
the past, so am VERY wary of the place), I managed to get planing fairly
easily & even felt slightly overpowered at first.
Sea state was pretty horrible - pretty bouncy chop, and - over the sandbar
- waves coming from the sea meeting with reflected waves off the sandbar.
It all made for some interesting sailing.
Unfortunately, the wind played silly buggers & started to have more lulls
than gusts. At one point, I landed on Dawlish Warren (following Adrian's
lead) in order to slacken the downhaul. Tony had already been over there
earlier & had warned of the sideshore currents. He was right. Adrian got
rinsed slightly in the shoredump whilst drifting sideways (wind with tide
Sad ), whilst I got lucky (ok, I had a bigger sail), only drifted about 20
yards before I managed to move away from the shore & the current.
Not the best of days, but better than sitting at home. And so warm, too!
